Contract Position - Digital Content & Audience Growth
Position Overview
The Berggruen Institute is seeking a highly skilled Digital Content & Audience Growth Contractor to lead the scheduling, maintenance, reporting, and promotion of our social media platforms, including Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. This is a contract-based role with a flexible structure, ideal for an independent professional or freelancer who can commit to managing high-volume content, audience engagement, and data-driven platform growth.
Collaborating with the Senior Program Manager of Integrated Communications & Design, the Digital Content & Audience Growth Contractor will oversee content execution, community management, campaign development, and performance reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong editorial mindset, a keen eye for digital storytelling, and experience optimizing content across multiple platforms. They should be proficient in social media best practices, analytics, and emerging digital tools to enhance engagement.
As a contractor, the individual will work on a project-to-project basis with defined scopes of work and deliverables. While collaboration with internal teams is essential, this position requires the ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities, and bring strategic recommendations for platform growth and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Berggruen Institute to execute their social media posts through an editorial lens
- Provide community management and help develop better engagement with current audience
- Manage a high volume of content from future keystone projects
- Posting and drafting copy for assets (video, graphics, photo) developed by the Content Producer & Graphic Designer
- Basic ability to edit cutdowns and use Canva is needed
- Building and sharing weekly/monthly/quarterly reports with key stakeholders
- Maintaining a social media calendar, ensuring review and delivery timelines in coordination across all Institute programs.
- Ensure all social media channels are up-to-date and information relevant
- Respond, engage, and interact with BI’s built network
- Support with campaign development for key Institute initiatives
- Youtube maintenance and curation
- Involves regular uploading to Youtube and optimizing headlines and tags for SEO using AI software
- Proactive engagement with like minded thinkers / channels and responding to posts and direct messages
- Familiarity with current software stack (Asana, Slack, Hootsuite, VidIQ) as well as research and make recommendations for additional social media growth and automation tools.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience working in social media or community management
- Has clear examples of both developing and growing social media platforms (especially YouTube)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and disseminate messaging across multiple platforms for diverse audiences.
- Creative and innovative approach to communications and problem-solving.
- Responsible for working and managing projects independently while also effectively collaborating within a team environment.
- Strict attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of work.
- Solid time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Proficiency with social media platforms Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Youtube
- Ideal candidate has a broad range of interest/curiosity in politics, current affairs, and academic research
- Nice to have: experience with e-comm brands or high volume posting
Compensation
Salary range for this project based work is $32-40 per hour, commensurate with professional experience, and requires a minimum involvement of 20 hours per week.
